Craving and Aspiration

Our popular culture teaches us to satisfy all our desires. In Buddhism, though, there are two entirely different words for “desire,” Tanha and Sankappa. Tanha is the addictive, self-centered, ignorant craving with little concern for the rest of
the world. Craving is the more common form of “desire.”

Sankappa, Right Aspiration, could also be
translated as “desire,” but it's different from Tanha. Right Aspiration is wise, unselfish desire for the happiness of all beings, without attachment. We're encouraged to cultivate it.

Thus we need to look closely at our desires, to winnow out the true aspirations we feel in our heart from the immense mass of self-centered craving that afflicts us moment by moment. Once we fully understand this distinction, we can let go of our cravings and follow our true aspirations. This is the real secret to happiness.

Coaching Life Lessons Through Sport

There is a famous saying from legendary writer Haywood Hale Broun, “Sports do not build character, they reveal it.” I would amend that to “Sports do not build character, people build character through sports.” Developing confidence and self-esteem in an athlete through sports will go a long way towards character building that will make them productive people long after their playing days end.

MY IDEAS model: Create a dynamic & structured presentation in 7 steps

Listening to a speaker can be very tiring because our minds are distracted quickly due to a low concentration span; a live presentation is a format we know and this familiarity keeps us less alert and taking in new information can drain our energy. Therefore to know how to grasp and hold the audience’s attention is vital to get your message across. How can you as a speaker make it easier for your audience and yourself?
